Animals are far better than most humans, i.e., the story about the idiot kids (with idiot parents) who beat a kitten. What would incite a normal human being to kill a helpless animal? It gives them a sense of power? How sick, and how terrible for humankind that we have these kind of so called humans among us.

I went to a country school many years ago...we kept the windows open in the summer, and a pet crow would fly in and steal things from students desks. It was funny, but frustrating when you needed a pencil that he fancied.
That's exactly what I would do...and also make sure my daughter goes to college to do something that will make a difference in this world for animals, both domestic and wild.
Last summer three baby squirrels fell out of a nest, and one of them died. The mother squirrel came back and carried all of them to a new nest, including the dead one.
Aside from the brainless jokes of posters here, these animals are quite fascinating. I happened to be in the middle of a lake and encountered one a few years ago...they are huge! They slap their tails on the water when they're trying to scare someone. Sounds like a gunshot!
