hmm... mathematics have some of the smallest profession size.   So why all this talk about needing more mathematicians? I thought it was so important that everyone understand everything about math. and only 5000, less than a town population, are needed.   What a bunch of crock.

This is not true, I have a masters in mechanical eng and I only make 40 k. What's worse is its in electrical field. You need a pe to get anywhere in engineering. I'm all for cutting welfare and making it a social taboo when you go on the public doles... but this is stupid. Kids, and I mean no kids, welfare or not, should not have the pressure of supporting the family. Horrible idea.
