I don't agree with it because university students are supposed to be young adults who are responsible for their own behavior.  Surfing the net during a class is rude to the professor, and it would be reasonable to mention this during the first lecture.  If students do it quietly and do not disrupt the class, however, I...more

I live in Canada, and I have to say that the chip and pin cards are great.  If the merchant has a proper reader, you don't have to sign anymore, just use your pin.  They are also great in restaurants as you can just just type in the percentage tip you want to leave, and not bother calculating it yourself.  I hope that ...more

From a purely economic standpoint, the suggestion has merit.  It cost more to lift a heavier object against gravity than a lighter one.  Arguments against this idea have to be philosophical, not economic. I'm a confirmed atheist, but I can't see any reason not to let people wear crosses at work.  If they are not actively proselytizing, what is the problem.  I would be upset if a government office decided to put up a religious symbol, as that implies that the government supports that one belief system.  I don't see a pro...more
