I don't know why they would need a "Born On" date.  Does water go "Skunky" if it sets on the shelf to long?

Yes, they may be, but are they maybe getting more satisfaction and enjoying what their doing.  The loss and/or reduction of responsibility can be worth a great deal and regardless of how long you have to work at an under qualified job, you will eventually work to the level of you competence. VVC
