While I don't necessarily like Lauer, I depise soft interviews even more.  That's why I never liked Anne.  She had her questions on on index card and could never seem to stray, even when the obvious follow up or 'I gotcha' moment was there.

Does 2 cents ($0.023) per pizza sound like a reasonable tip to you?  Boy are you cheap!

I like Ann, she's a nice person.  She's good at reading the news, but is a terrible interviewer.  She lacks the ability to follow up with logical questions to the subjects answers.  I saw so many 'gotcha moments' spoiled by her sticking to the index cards she held.

Actually when I think of Red Lobster and Olive Garden, I think of Carribian lobster (not Maine) and italian food that's about italian as Chinese food
