As a architect who specializes in houses I will state as FACT that is completely incorrect. All of the fancy overpriced finishes are DEMANDED by the owners...as are all of the requests to make what isn't seen as inexpensive as possible.
We all know that "organic" costs a hell of a lot more because its trendy. But beyond that; I don't remember the last time I was in a store that had free samples, the isles are straight to save space enabling the stores to accommodate more shelves so they can have all the "new and improved" products no one actually wan...more
Speaking as someone who recently bought a house (closed 3-27) I can say the reason sales appear to be increasing is the severe lack of (and therefore competition for) the few houses that are on the market with realistic pricing.
That is complete b.s.: a few years back (when the economy was collapsing) the lease on my car (a Dodge Charger) was about to end, I received a coupon in the mail for $7500 off on any new leftover (previous model year) F-150. Maybe if more companies broadcasted (as in an antenna receives the signal for free) this wouldn't be happening.
