Are China's trade figures too good to be...

I'd take a long look into those figures in terms of Chinese-owned gold mining companies.  I'd venture to say that anywhere you see Chinese-owned gold mining companies, you'll see an increase in exports from China along with an increase in imports to China.  Under Chinese law, any Chinese-owned gold mining company anywh...more

Penney blows $170M on executive blunders

He had the reputation of a "Golden Boy" when they hired him, meaning you're going to pay out your **** for him.  His only real talent seemed to be timing.  He was the right guy in the right place at the right time with the Apple stores, and was able to parlay that into a bigger payday with JCP while parlaying JCP into ...more

Penney blows $170M on executive blunders

He buried himself walking in the door.  The problem was the pricing scheme.  When it was first announced, it gave the impression that the entire store was deep discounted, and I'm talking fire sale prices, when that wasn't the case.  The only thing he accomplished there was attracting people who thought they could come...more

Penney blows $170M on executive blunders

This guy's pay package was based on his track record at Apple.  The problem is that the Apple store concept can make anyone look like a retail genius.  The stores are small square footage.  The product is high-priced, high-margin product which people will make a point of buying in an Apple store.  The sales dollars per...more

It's not just whether or not someone is reading a contract.  Van Halen's thought with the M&M's was to make sure the people putting the show together were paying attention to more important details, like how much juice was running through which wires.  You know that if someone is going to disregard a quirky detail, lik...more

I find the 29% figure astonishingly low, especially when you consider that there is zero accountability for elected official and government employees.  And so long as you have elected civilians, at the state and federal level, holding the title of Commander in Chief instead of a career military man, there will continue...more

11 tools everyone should have

When I think tools, I think ounces and not pounds.  And most of them should easily carry in a MOAB 10 bag and/or on a backpack.  Your basics:  an axe, 2 handsaws, an entrenching tool, a quality multi-tool, paracord, duct tape, at least 2 reliable means of starting fire, and a minimum of 3 knives.   The number one thi...more

Where's Spetsnaz Team Alpha when you need them?  Before you pat this clown on the back, I have one word for you:  Beslan.  Personally, I'd like to see Sonny Puzikas get five minutes alone with this guy.
