Back in the old days of photography, the flash powder startled the subjects causing them to open thier eyes wide and facial expresions to go blank creating the "deadpan look". For that reason, you could not tell people apart from one another and THEY ALL LOOKED THE SAME.
Many many people have seen thier own doubles in old BW photos from the civil war era. The old "deadpan" look was from the powder flash used back then. I think its a theory about re-incarnation.
