I am 26 years old, I have contributed 5% to my 401k and 5% to discounted stock at my company over the last 2 years. Is there anything else I should be doing with a different investment firm outside of my work place?

Sure it might be ironic, but just because unemployment is high doesn't mean those who are lucky enough to work don't appreciate a day off once in a while. And how many holidays are remembered and celebrated for their true origins anyways?

I don't mind spending more in certain areas. The problem is with the distribution of spending.
