so 8 to 10 years is 5% of our lives - so you're planning to live until you're between 160 and 200 years old. Working until 75 seems pretty reasonable by this math.

I contribute more than I will ever take out. But I don't mind subsidizing people who have been less fortunate than myself. I sleep better at night this way. Is that really the only rationalization you are doing, quick subtraction of what you get out from what you put in = bad deal unless that number is positive?
