I think Taxylvania didn't make the list because real estate taxes vary very much across the state. Also, with the flat income tax it appears to be reasonable. It is one of the best to retire in because it doesn't tax SS or retirement income when you retire. That is if you can afford the real estate taxes. I do not li...more

8 moves that drive car salesmen crazy

I was looking for a new car but I had two cars at the time. I knew I could not get the best price on the new car if i traded both vehicles. I told the Ford salesman I liked his car and was serious about buying it when I had sold one of my vehicles. He had told me an approximate trade in value of one of my vehicles. One...more

Would a $9 minimum wage hurt McDonald's?...

The people that get hurt when you raise the min wage is the people who worked to get from $7.50 to $8.50. You raise it to $9 and the person working next to them who has not had a year or so experience is now making the same amount. Also, the present tax system discourages marriage. If a couple with 4 children are MFJ earning $50,000 and getting $1500 withheld in taxes; they get back much more than the $1500. If they filed each as HH (and they are not married) they each claim two of the children, they each get back over $5000. A flat tax is so muc...more

I went down to have them explain how SS would work and they started my survivors benefits immediately. They also told me to check with them when my ex passed. Told me I would...more

I believe these writers are being influenced by the feds. They figure if less people take SS early, the longer they have to fight about what to do with it.  Work the math and consider your circumstances. My husband and I figured it was better for him to take SS at his full benefit age and bank most of it. I would take ...more

What's the matter with Wal-Mart?

I also am an ex WM worker. They pay more per hour than Target and they pay a premium for working on Sunday. Also, Target has a higher mark up per item. I was offered health insurance - not good but health insurance nevertheless.        Americans want to pay the cheapest while they want to make the most. Also - all of t...more

I humbly disagree... jobs went overseas because Americans wanted to pay the least amount for everything (Clothes, furniture, cars and etc.) while still thinking they could earn the most for their jobs.   We also told our kids they had to go to college and not into trades. Getting their hands dirty was too good for our ...more
