Generally the wrongly accused gets $50,000 per year.

Actually the death row number of blacks and whites is about equal in being released, with a few latino and asians.    Total number is about 240 by records.  Most were convicted in the 70s and 80's.  Which says a lot for our justice system.    There are over 1 million in jail for assorted crimes and so far only 240...more

DNA testing was not in use 1973.  It has just recently proved reliable as well.  So there will be a few people wrongly incarcerated. but not many.
