Who says the message has to be "flirty"? Perhaps you can use the tool to tell those people with shoes off, noisy kids, or whatever what you'd like with or without buying them a cocktail.
$3 per hour at least sounds fair to me. I generally tip 20% since I've had friends and family in the industry (and the math's easier than 15%). If you get poor service, don't feel the need to tip more than 10%... but they're base pay should definitely be higher!
Disaster? Did Walmart stop buying clothes manufactured in Bangladesh? Who cares if sweat shops and other 3rd world country facilities collapse? If we'd simply tax imports more instead of taxing other crap made in the US, perhaps it wouldn't matter and help us buy AMERICAN made.

Gas prices in Chicagoland have jumped about 50 cents per gallon in the past week! Passed a station this morning for $4.25 per gallon gas and we're in the suburbs. San Francisco? No mention of the drawback of so many hills. Kind of hard to walk up a sidewalk for anyone much less the elderly when it is more than a 10% grade.
I hope they've peaked... the economy's only going to get worse! Anyone excited about $3.60 gas is insane anyway. I have an idea, how about $2-something gas again, then I'll be "excited" and can travel. Gas prices go down a few cents at a time but jump 10, 20 or more cents at a time so don't hold your breath!
