Everyone's case is going to be different.  If health is a concern, taking SS ASAP  may be a much sounder way forward.  If you are in good health and you don't have to retire, continuing to earn a full paycheck and boosting your SS may make sense.  I think the key here is, research and investigate early what your retire...more

I am guilty of waiving the other car on at a four way stop when we both got there about the same time.  I will ALWAYS waive them on, I NEVER accept the waive on.  In 25 years of driving all over the country, it has served me well.  But your point is well taken.

Nearly useless article.  Each branch is different and will offer services with varying degrees of competence.  Some banks are more conducive to customers - open on Sundays, longer regular hours and perks for certain customers.    Honestly, I try very hard to never go inside a branch.  Almost ALL transactions can o...more

Not to mention, try renting a car, booking a airfare or even checking into a hotel.  You can still be a cash customer with a VISA card.  Pay it off at the end of the month.  Been doing it for years and I gladly keep the cash back rewards that go with it.

Kid just got her first summer job (she is 15).  Signed her up at Navy Federal CU.  No fees, can use any bank ATM, excellent mobile banking app and when she is ready to begin financing cars, mortgages, etc.  NFCU has the best rates around.   We've sat down and talked about the cost of financing anything and how money...more

Wow, interesting comment. I think my strategy escaped you.  My expected returns are small, but guaranteed - capital preservation.  This is a short term strategy.  Done it twice now and have preserved capital each time.  As the market stabilizes again, the market may become a better place to invest.    I can unders...more

Three days ago I moved ALL of my 401k from the market into treasuries.  I may lose out on a few more good trading sessions, but the writing is on the wall, the government will not be able to continue to pump cheap money into the market.  When they stop, the fall will come.  CAVEAT EMPTOR!
