I agree with not combining gifts!  And if someone's birthday is near Christmas, don't wrap their present in Christmas paper either!  Of course, that's ok if you wrap someone's present whose birthday is in May with summer paper... or in October with Halloween paper...  bad, bad idea to combine gifts!
