I agree.  That's the pitfall of advice columns is that we only ever get one side to the story, when there are always two sides to every story.

I can't help but wonder ... if the character had been drawn as distinctively Hispanic if another special interest group would have complained about stereotyping and racism.

"I have a son who's African American..." I don't know anything about her children, is her son really from Africa?
