the crime stats are from the FBI database. i was shocked too. yes, NY, Detroit, LA and other big cities have bad crime, but the stats are state-wide.

did you know that washigton state would be #8 on the list for crime stats, and is in the top 5 in the country for stolen cars??? seattle was on my bucket list...not any more.

i did a little fact checking...first, i couldn't find the kaiser foundation source for life expectancy so i can't comment on that. for the crime stats (note that this is from 2010), it appears for some reason the author cut all the figures in exactly half...don't know why...maybe not good at math, which is disturbing ...more
