the crime stats are from the FBI database.  i was shocked too.  yes, NY, Detroit, LA and other big cities have bad crime, but the stats are state-wide.   here's the link...see for yourself.

did you know that washigton state would be #8 on the list for crime stats, and is in the top 5 in the country for stolen cars???  seattle was on my bucket list...not any more.
