To mortgage and debt free, you,re partially right, eliminate all taxes but don't tax wages, have a consumption tax instead. That will encourge companies & jobs and discourage wasting. Let the little guy (or even the big guy) keep their hard earned money but make them more aware(taxes) of what & how they spend
That's the way it shld be. That would be taxing consumption and encourage earning. This way the guy who buys a basic car to get him and his family around would pay less tax then the guy who buys the 6 figure car to show off.
