Here's  a budget-cutting idea: we  retire from the so-called United Nationsand tell them to relocate to France.  Happy 4th to one and all. PM

Dow struggles just to break even

My fellow troopers, we must absolutely admit the physical impossibility of the liquidation (paying off) of a debt of $14.3 trillion dollars!  It's impossible, particularly when the best so-called debt-reduction plans call for doubling that figure in 10 years.  We are faced with default in the real sense, i.e. simply no...more

Why you should love $5 gas

If the price of gasoline goes to $10.00/gallon, there will be civil unrest in this country and possibly a civil war.  It is irresponsible to promote this potential circumstance as some sort of blessing.  Worse than gasoline, how will people heat their homes?  What will America look like on the streets when the majority...more

Americans still hooked on gas guzzlers

What is often overlooked in this discussion is the fact that the government brought all this about when they exempted light trucks from emission/mileage requirements back in the late '70's.  The result was that cars went into the toilet quality-wise, because the technology and design were not up to standards.  Engineer...more

Fragile Flame, please get your facts straight.  It was LBJ in 1967 who authorized the Social Security dollars to be added to the general fund dollars.  Look it up.  Since 1967, the FICA/Medicare payroll taxes (half of which your employer pays) have been included in the general revenues in order to make the budget figur...more

It "dissolves" the water into the fuel.  It is also a good  stabilizer.  If your stabilizer package does not contain this ingredient, you are likely wasting your ...more

Stocks dawdle; gold soars over $1,270

Markets are about investing, and investing is about ROI (return on investment).  With interest rates so low, and the stock market in a range, investors are forced to go where they think they can get a return, and recently that avenue has been in commodities, especially gold.  Gold was at roughly $1100.00 per oz. at the...more

Dow drops 268 on global recovery worries

I'm 57, and I have watched the Democrats and Republicans go hand-in-hand down "Deficit Spending Lane" my whole life.  The hard truth is that Democrats are crazy, and Republicans are incompetent.  Put it all together, and you have this untenable, unsustainable mess.

Stocks struggle to small gains

Imperatorxx wrote that America is the penultimate example of an obsolete way of thinking.  Penultimate means literally "next to last".  So what is the last or ultimate example of an obsolete way of thinking?  I'm dying to know; don't hold out on us!
