Unions in and of them selves do serve a purpose. They support worker safety and fair practices. However the complete politicalization of the unions has corrupted the system. Most of the time it's the politicians and union officials that profit but not always the workers.

I think the open surgery procedure that was used in the past was much more invasive. It would take at a minimum six weeks to recover from that. Laparoscopic surgery only involves several very small incisions whereas with the open procedure it is around 8 inch opening. Hope he does well and takes it easy.
