This article is spot on except for the title "Why You Should Be A Mean Parent". It's not mean to expect something from your children, it's not mean to prepare them for life and it's certainly not mean to be tough but fair. Maybe a better title would be "How To Be A Real Parent".
Healthy for the cows? They're coming up on the end of their lives, so does it really matter? I would be more concerned about it being healthy for the humans who will be eating them!
