This should have been handled as all previous overreactionary school cases should have  been handled:  talk with child and parents, explain why the spirit of the game was disturbing to some and let it go.

Ridiculous reaction on the part of the school.  The young lady was following a curiosity trail and yes, while it went awry, there was no reason to expel or arrest.
