I know of 3 businesses just in my little town that gross 250k-300k a year but after they do their taxes they qualify for EIC.

With the move to get off oil in general... wouldn't the smart decision be to try to open our own oil producing areas rather than have them sit and then 50 years from now we have oil underground and nobody is using it?

You caught a break and saved $35,000....  set up a payment plan through the IRS. AND you have over 3% savings in interest per month.

The only people that are suckers are those that buy stocks automaticly every two weeks or monthly.   They are the ones who will never see the light.  Dumb investing.

Why not just cap the Schedule A at 35,000 then?    That saves the middle class but eliminates the ficticious claims of the rich.   I'm all for the following... all increase revenues... helps middle class.   1.  Cap the Schedule A to 35,000 2.  Make a law you can't get back more than you put in... sorry people ...more

Overpaid workers KILLED the auto industry in Detroit now it's on the Postal Service.  Have you seen what these people get paid?  Even in podunk timbuktu a postmaster gets 60k-80k.

You'd be so much more well off IRS if you went after all the "self employeed" people with all of their allegded deductions.  I promise i've seen 20-30 returns of people who own their own businesses.... gross anywhere between 250k and one million yet only have taxable income of 10k or less and get a nice 3-5k EIC credit...more
