Confidence is key. If it's a suit that makes you feel confident or a watch or a car or whatever - invest in it. It's fun and it brings about the all important confidence.

In the past DIY wasn't an issue - it was the norm. Now the vast majority of people are too lazy to acquire the required skill-set to perform DIY tasks. Most would rather watch "America is Idle" than actually take the time to learn and do something.
