Taxes on the rich are near 30-year highs

Taxes on the rich are near 30-year highs... for what length of time, the last 60 days?  I also love how they claim how much the rich have paid in taxes in percentages of the tax RATE, not in a percentage of actual tax payments received by the federal government.  Even if the tax burden borne upon the rich were true it ...more

USPS cuts Saturday mail delivery

The United States Postal Service is run by republican crooks!  Need proof?  Just demand that all management within the USPS disclose their common stock equity holdings in United Parcel Service (UPS) and Federal Express! My guess is that management within the USPS holds a combined share of 5% of the outstanding shares i...more

Fiscal cliff could crush minimum-wage hi...

What are the chances... of adding up the combined total income of all of our (not) Washington D.C. elected representatives, dividing that total by the total number of our (not) Washington D.C. elected representatives and coming up with an average income of $350,000?  Perhaps the $450,000 threshold for raised taxes is i...more

I may be as much of an eat the rich guy as anybody else but a wealth tax wouldn't work at the rate of 26%.  There probably are very few wealthy people who could tap liquid funds to pay such a high tax all at once.  If they had a net worth of 2 million and you hit them with a one-time 26% wealth tax they'd have to cough...more

Michigan lawmakers OK 'right-to-work' me...

In order to simply hire all non-union they'd have to fire all the pro-union.  Newly hired employees would probably be paid a much lower hourly wage.  These newhires would be working alongside veteran employees who are still union members thus earning more per hour.  Divide and conquer.  Do you really think that there a...more

Michigan lawmakers OK 'right-to-work' me...

What the union-hating employees fail to see here is that a tiered hourly salary is right around the corner.  Shortly after the celebration of this union defeat, as soon as the management cheerleaders grow tired of thrusting their pom-poms skyward, their ever-loving management is going to take their hourly salary downwa...more

Norquist pledge can send us over the cli...

This fiscal cliff and debt ceiling raise request drama will be settled on either 12/18 or 12/19.  The RNC would be committing the equivalent of political suicide if the cliff were allowed to happen, thus reverting estate taxes back to the Clinton-era level.  Due to this overhanging threat Obama effectively has the RNC ...more

When Obama gets re-elected and he closes his business (he must be dissolving his business rather than selling it due to tax writeoffs that benefit him?) and fires his employees guess what  they may do as a result?   A)  They may collect unemployment benefits from their state GOVERNMENT for six months. B)  They ma...more
