I'm in grad school and, therefore, broke.  My husband and I can't afford to try new restaurants because if the food is disappointing, that was money (usually lots of it, due to the city we're in) wasted.  However, we have gotten to try new restaurants thanks to Groupon.  And you know what?  If they're good, we go back!...more

Customer shocked by $34,872 cell phone b...

They offered free calls.  If they didn't say they offered free texting and data, then they weren't offering free texting and data.  Though the bill is outrageously high (as companies frequently offer really inexpensive packages that include both, so texting and data use clearly doesn't cost them very much), she should ...more

In Brief: The Quirky Brain: Why songs ge...

I'm baffled by the complaining about the fact that this study was done.  I think it's fascinating that the auditory parts of the brain are involved, when you aren't actually hearing the music from an external source.  It could lead to questions about whether people who frequently hear music in their heads have more adv...more

It's funny...I've lived in several apartments.  Though I never lived in the same building as a landlord or maintenance employee, in all but one, they were all within walking distance of my building.  The only time this wasn't true was when I had a landlord who lived all the way across town, and he did most of the maint...more

Sometimes, you do need to let your landlord know if you are pregnant.  If you live an older building, it is essential that you make sure your building, and especially your unit, has been de-leaded.  In my state, it is actually illegal for you to have a child under 7 in a building that hasn't been de-leaded.  If you liv...more

McDonald's faces possible Happy Meal sui...

This is ridiculous!  I'm thinking of going and getting a Happy Meal for lunch, just out of spite!  McDonalds is not making the parents bring their kids to their restaurant and get them the meal--that is the parents' choice!  If a parent can't stand up to their own kid during a fit of the "I wants!" then they should not...more

'Cougar Town' set for name change?

I love Cougar Town!  I wasn't able to like Modern Family...I so wanted to, and I tried for weeks, but just never did--mostly because of the nuclear family.  The kids in the nuclear family were funny, but the parents...
