Very good question.  The real reason for making student loans non-dischargeable is, and will always be a financial mystery.  The bigger question is how the interest and exorbitant renewal and collection charges are also non-dischargeable.  Did you know that if you are offered an extension or "deferral" during the repay...more

Archaeologists discover cool new Mayan t...

The Spaniards did bring a powerful weapon to the New World - small pox.  The residents responded with a weapon of their own - syphilis.  Given the syphilis epidemic in Europe after Columbus' return, it is possible that the Mayans and other early Americans were decimated by both diseases, not warfare.  Wished the Spania...more

Dow falls 121 on European worries, Chipo...

Don't blame government for the acts of the private sector.  Blame voters for electing public officials who excelled in the private sector.  Misdirecting your frustrations toward the government for greedy acts committed on Wall Street will never solve the problem.  Stop putting business tycoons in office.

Stocks turn higher despite weak economic...

Really, really, really glad you are paying attention.  Last I checked, Congress was trying to pass a jobs program, and Obama vetoed it at every turn, right?  And the private sector saw their equity captial fall 40% over the past four years, correct? (somewhat tongue in cheek)  Predisposition, slow metabolism, and unhealthy eating habits are not "self imposed conditions" to use your terminology.  They are biological or cultural.  With a name l...more

In December, the FDA unexpectedly announced that weight loss products containing HCG were illegal.  As one of those who had used this hormone based weight loss supplement  with tremendous results (and fully intended to use the product in te future), I was curious to discover the reasoning behind the announcement, parti...more

Dow up 78 as Bernanke vows Fed aid if ne...

Hysterical.  Yesterday this guy decries the gloom of sagging retail sales that caused a 0.3% drop in the DOW.  Today, all is well because Bernanke undressed the Republicans in Congress and the DOW responded by recovering of all of yesterday's losses.  This guy must think the stock market is so fickle and so vulnerable ...more

Dow off 50 as slowing economy hits retai...

I realize that guys like you don't appreciate facts (a common failing of functional illiterates), but unemployment became an issue in 2008.  The main reason it is still an issue is the same private sector economics that sunk the ship four years ago.  p.s.  Romney ... Bain Capital...
