if these companies pay their employees exorbitant wages (ie the Hostess Bakers Union... goodbye Twinkies) then Walmart is no longer the low-cost supplier. Then guess what? You'll be whining about why their costs are so high!
Actually walmart has NOT raised their margins. Like most retailers, they have an upcharge on purchase price. When their cost increases, that is pushed onto the consumer. The Walmart margin does not change.
