Looks like he felt there were substantial reasons for him to get the surgery. Rapid growth can occur between screenings and can make things much worse.
I am sure he would rather deal with the incontinence now than chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and incontinence later. He already had malignant changes so he did the right thing for himself and his family. Watching someone you love suffer through cancer is heartbreaking.

Looks like your dad was like mine. He taught me and all of my cousins how to do basic car maintenance.
