I wonder if that couple making less than 40k pay rent or a mortgage. Do they live in Kentucky or some other low rent state? Are they living on their parent's property and living rent free?   Every situation is different. If your health insurance is free, and I pay $900, the person getting free health insurance has ...more

That's funny, my house is 1000 square feet. Must be nice to come straight out of high school in to a union job that feeds a family of 5 while the Mrs. stays home and bakes pies. Those days don't get to happen for the "****ed over generations".

The obese will rack up billions of dollars in health care dollars unless they drop dead. Angiograms, bypass surgeries, diabetes, hypertension, are going to skyrocket. One bypass surgery and aftercare cost about $250,000. Yeah, with 33% of our population being overweight and/or obese, we are screwed. Please, let's allow...more

I agree with you to a point. Money isn't everything, but love doesn't pay the rent. If men aren't bringing home the bacon, they need to be helping out the woman in other ways. Child rearing, house work, budgeting, grocery shopping. A lot of women I know have to go out and work full time jobs and STILL come home and wor...more

My parents paid 28,000 for their home, my dad had no college education and worked in a tire shop. My mom stayed home so they didn't have to pay for daycare and someone was always available.   For the younge...more

If Paul Ryan gets elected, we will ALL being making 1/2. If we let the "free market" dictate all salaries, we will be back down to depression era, sweat shop pay and working conditions. Romney has actually done this to US companies.   When the average American balks at the salaries of CEOs, execs, etc.. we are tol...more

Keep Nagging Your Significant Other -- I...

I ASK. Nicely. My husband will often ignore me, so I ask him again. If he is being his usual passive aggressive self, I will often do the chore myself, or call someone who can. I am then turned off by the "man" who chooses not to help me around the house. I work outside the home full time, and I outearn my husband. It ...more

Way to generalize. You just did what the naive author did.   This "Twerper" has a 1000 square foot house, one SMALL bathroom. I do my own nails, and I don't tan because it causes wrinkles and skin cancer. My parents do not often see my children, so they do not provide me free day care. They are too busy getting hig...more
