Gold, silver under pressure in a broken...

We need to quit the scare tactics currently championed by the "Fiscal Cliff" talk. Letting the automatic features of the tax law and the automatic spending cuts that will happen is probably what we need to get us back on the road to fiscal sanity. Revenues that match spending. I'm a card carrying Republican, but I long...more

REPORT: Ann Curry to Stay with NBC News

Ann sure tried to be a team player. I like her in the lighter work on the show, but her serious interview skills left me cringing. If she wrote her own questions she wasn't a well trained investigative journalist. If someone did her script they should have been replaced. I saw an earlier comment they thought Gutherie w...more

Stocks waver on GE outlook

It's about time the shareholders (and I'm one) votes to remove Immelt and his staff. They've have 10 years of mediocrity resulting  so far from their business managment. I'm no great fan of Jack Welch, but at least he kept the stock growing in value.   With regards to the fact GE paid no income taxes so what! If we h...more

No one in Washington seems to get it direct financial stimulus programs don't work. Roosevelt tried it to get out of the Depression and it didn't work it and it actually got worse. The only thing saving us was a War causing full employment. Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating we create a World War to solve our proble...more

Conan vs. Leno will cost big bucks

I personally don't care as others have said for Conan's humor. A little childish, but I'm older and we tend to have different outlook on what good humor is. Yes at times Conan's humor does make me laugh, but consistently is out of the question. The same applies to Leno. I'll admit I prefer Leno's humor to Letterman's, ...more

Arby's slipping down the food chain - MS...

Boy, I couldn't agree with you more. The roast beef they put in the sandwiches is crap. I call it plastic meat. I'm from Massachusetts  originally and we had two roast beef places or mini-chains that put Arby's to shame Kelly's Roast Beef and Bill and Bobs. It's been awhile since I've been to MA so I'm not sure Bill an...more

Time Warner's profit falls; Comcast's ju...

As a GE stockholder  I would welcome the news they finally dumped NBC Universal from the company. It has been a drag on GE performance long before the recent downturn in the market. When other divisions were showing double digit growth, NBC couldn't get out of the single digits. Jeff Zucker's management has been a stud...more

Big changes ahead for student loans - MS...

Generally, speaking I think the cost of education is outrageous. The university (private) I attend raised their fees 5.4% this year. Raising their fees in an economy that has retracted 2-3% is just outrageous. Maybe fee justification should be a factor in their accredation process. I'm not sure why Katydid044 thinks sh...more
