'Eleanor' Mustang driven by Nicolas Cage...

Street Machines, If this were the original green Mustang fastback that Steve McQueen blasted around San Francisco with in "Bullitt", or the black Dodge Charger that was racing him, then I could understand the price at auction. Any lesser movie car is really more hype than value.   Peace to all ~

Woman, 87: 'Somebody had to stand up' to...

Donald Trump has to be one of the most blatantly successful con artists to ever strut the stage of American business. Frankly, I wouldn't trust him any farther than I could throw one of his overpriced condo towers. I really hope the lady gets some justice in court from this professional blowhard.   Peace to all ~

Aston celebrates 100th anniversary with...

Blast from the past, This is a very interesting design based loosely along the lines of original DBR1. There seems to be a renewed 'retro look' war between the marquee road rockets, especially from Ferrari, Bugatti, Jaguar and Lotus. This super cool sled from Aston Martin puts them back into the fast lane with the cre...more

Retrospect, Geez, I can remember when a six-pack of any of the local beers was .99 to 1.19, and the 'good' stuff, the national brands, were maybe twenty five cents more. If only I had a time machine I'd head back to 1967 when beer, food, gasoline, movies and everything else was really affordable for the average person...more

I've been to Pompeii and walked around the ruins...an amazing place. The town had about 20,000 people and a large number of villas owned by wealthy Romans who went South to ...more

Mount Pavlof in Alaska Erupts, Spews Ash...

Bob-arooni, Yes, The explosion of Mt Vesuvius on August 24, 79 AD buried the nearby towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum in almost 20ft of ash and pumice as well as a pyroclastic flow. This was one of the major volcanic events in all of recorded history. The only written record of what happened that day was by Pliny The Y...more

Mount Pavlof in Alaska Erupts, Spews Ash...

As Chukkal mentioned earlier, this is the anniversary of the Mt. Saint Helens event...33 years. As large as that was, it ranks fifth or sixth on the scale of cataclysmic volcanic events in relatively modern times. Imagine what it must have been like to be around Novarupta in 1912 , Krakatoa in 1883 or the infamous Tamb...more

Actually, the world's largest radio telescope, built in the 1960's and almost a mile in diameter, sits in and over a natural depression near the town of Ariceibo, Puerto Rico. The Russians are currently building a larger one.
