We started talking about this problem 3 years ago and it still exists and you say is getting worse. I think our government must like it just fine the way it is then, because they could do something about it if they wanted to. The way we can solve this is :  Become a MILLIONAIRE...

Saving should be a standard part of your thinking as living beneath your means is the key to wealth.  Even in retirement, I know to save for the occasional big expenses that pop up like a new roof, refrigerator, etc. Within a year or two I'm probably going to pay cash for a new car.
