We also have wheat farmers in our area that are paid by the Federal Government not to grow to keep the price of grain up. The local joke is that we have more wheat farmer millionaires that don't actually grow anything than any farmer of any other crop who does grow.

I can work as hard as my Mexican brother. I just don't get federally subsidized housing that costs less than $200 a month(or free on site housing) so I can stretch that minimum wage.
