Funny. I felt the same way when The Disney Channel stopped showing classic cartoons and movies in favor of shows like Hannah Montana and Even Stevens. I'm lonesome for some Charlie the Lonesome Cougar or True Life Adventures. Candleshoe where are you?
We also have wheat farmers in our area that are paid by the Federal Government not to grow to keep the price of grain up. The local joke is that we have more wheat farmer millionaires that don't actually grow anything than any farmer of any other crop who does grow.
Read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair Manny. America was like that once. Just read a news story the other day about a worker getting shredded in a meat machine. Ahh just like the good old days. Now if we could just get 6 year olds back into the coal mines.
And the rest of us just work for fun? You do realize that Hispanic workers help each other out while picking and the odd Caucasians out get no help at all.
I can't speak for anyone else all I can do is relate my experience at an apple processing plant. When I was hired I was the only non-Hispanic working on the line in my area.
