The world needs ditch diggers.
Not everyone needs to go to college. Sorry but it is true. Don't have a clue what you want to do...don't go to college until you do. Last thing you want to do is wrack up student loan debt because you're spending time in college trying to figure out what you want. I know some will say...more
Haven't cut the cable yet but my plan for the next couple months is:
Internet streaming device (Roku current choice) <- Most of these devices blow away current smart tvs. And I need a way to get the internet to tv.

aereo.com (when it is available in Chicago this spring) <- In theory, I should be in range ...more
3. "A college degree always pays off." <- Not nearly emphasized enough. Unfortunately there is a mentality in this country that everyone needs to get a college degree. But why? The politicians and economists always talk about lagging US manufacturing. Well....who wants to make widgets in factory if you're sporting a co...more

Phone service - If you can stand the sub-par service (data and voice) I'd really suggest a no-contract cell phone. You can find a plan for a decent smart phone (no not iPhone) for $35 a month for hundreds of minutes, unlimited text and unlimited (though relatively slow) data. I'm not here to advertise that particular c...more
I do no believe there is a currency in the world capable of providing what the US has done for decades. Just because another country is fiscally responsible does not mean they can simply turn their currency into a world reserve currency.
I wish people would get it out of their heads that the problem is with the insurance industry. By far the biggest reason why health insurance is so costly is not because the insurance companies are for profit (some are actually non-profit) but because the cost of health care in the US is just insane. It is unbelievabl...more
One way to increase US government coffers and lower imports would be to place the exact same tax on imports from country X that country X puts on our export to X. Right now tariffs are extremely low for imports from countries like China yet countries like China tax the crap on goods coming from the US. Yes increasing t...more
