What many people don't understand about Medicare reimbursement is that for every one dollar that a hospital or doctor bills Medicare,  six cents is paid. So a 2% cut now means that 4 cents is paid on each dollar billed instead of 6 cents. That is a make ot or break it deal for the medical community.   A sad as it ...more

Company policy has little meaning in a case like this.  The standard of care is what this nurse needs to worry about, not what her employer told her. I have never smoked, well once as a teen. I ended up in the hospital with ARD's or acute respiratory distress syndrome and a major whipping from my Dad once I was well again.
