Ashley, I don't think anyone is knocking Sociology as a major.  I happen to think that being a social worker is admirable.  The problem that I have is going to a top notch school and racking up a 6 figure debt when you have to know going in that you'll never be well-compensated as a social worker.  To me, it just seems...more

This article may have been useful 30 years ago.  However, someone who is just getting started at the age of 25 should aspire to save far greater than $1 million dollars if they want to live comfortably in retirement if you consider taxes and inflation.
