Typical elder abuse/exploitation a very prevalent and unreported crime. Most crimes of this type are committed by trusted friends or relatives. My wife's aunt was taken by a nephew. Do a little search research.
We are a very rich nation we can afford these programs. The cost without them is even higher. SSI, Medicare, Medicaid only need a few more percent tax support and a few adjustments to make them OK. There is a sea of money out there record incomes and profits from the corps. Just do it.
