I'm surprised they could have ever charged $5 for a video rental. I remember $1 rentals (not from Blockbuster) just a short time before. Also, most libraries don't even charge a fee and let you keep the video a week.
The drier is just a patsy. Run your fingers under the washer agitator (under the door gasket if you have a front loader). I have found so many socks in there it's unbelievable.
