In my city, living alone is not financially possible for the majority unless you're living in your car/on the streets.

I agree with Paul. In 2009 I shopped used cars with good safety records/dependability (necessary with a family). Turned out I could actually get a new car through the Costco Auto Program, with incentives, for LESS than the price of any available used safe car.

I'm just not comfortable with idea of a beater failing on the highway killing myself and my child and possibly a few other families as well. If he's still alive, he's lucky his cars always failed "safely".

That rule died with the TSA and Obamacare.
