Post-bankruptcy, many people's lives are greatly improved.  Being debt free, they can start a new life. Yes, most debt is discharged in bankruptcy with the exceptions of student loans and child support. Your credit will NOT be damaged for long as you can rebuild your credit within 2 years if you work at it.
