A resounding “Yes!” But part of responsible deficit reduction must also include entitlement reform.   Raising $80 billion in new taxes by ‘making the rich pay their fair share’ isn’t going to gain a lot of hea...more

Grocers caught in turkey war

We spent $17.65 for a 23.85 lb bird; @ 74 cents per lb. Not bad. Our entire dinner will cost under $30 as the rest of the stuff; potatoes, vegatables, ande dessert is really cheap. The trick for us is NOT to buy a name brand bird. The plain wrap bird cooks just as well, and is no more difficult to cook.

Social Security reform, bankrupt, benefi...

What a mess! Both my wife and I are 55 years old. WHen we started our working lives there was a so-called 'three-legged-stool' retirement plan. It consisted of Social Security, pension, and savings. Now it's  starting to look as if there are so many freeloaders in the system now that the government will have to start '...more

Party's over for credit card lenders - M...

All these sob stories! Really makes me wonder what foreign country I'm living in now.  I was taught to be responsible with my credit. Never let 'borrowed' money exceed 10% of income. How hard is that? The only exception to this rule is your mortgage; and it should not exceed 25% of your net.   Sure I've been between ...more
