Try progressive, cheapest in Michigan that I have found.  2013 Hyundai accent, full coverage (500 ded), 100ded comp, etc and a 2001 neon with comp only and I don't pay too much considering my wife has a ticket on her record... under 1600 a year.

Yea Michigan is very bad for car insurance rates, if my family didn't live here I would flee in a heartbeat.  Too many of the "blue" people live over by detroit, if that was removed from that state I think Michigan would be voting red.

I foresee oil companies not dropping the price if the fuel tax is replaced with a miles driven tax.  They will just keep the profits while our "price" stays the same. Bad idea IMO, why should I pay extra when it is someone else's choice to drive a hummer?

In Michigan unemployment is taxable on the State level, however you get a larger exemption.  For local taxes it is not taxable.
