It's a Hallmark holiday and really doesn't deserve any celebration.  If you love your significant other every day should be a true holiday!

My daughter sold Tupperware for a year.  She ended up giving it away and constantly replacing broken or damaged products.  Simply put, some Tupperware is good and a lot of it is crap.  Maybe Americans are a little more discerning buyers than those in Europe who may just now are being subjected to the cult

Some of that is maybe production methods being improved so not as many workers are needed (see auto industry and assembly lines).  It also may be that people are eating less crap out of a can and making their own food!!
