The article caught my eye because of the word "cheap" in the title.  Suggesting $3-4K per week, airfare across the country, city cultural passes, and so forth for many Americans with children is insultingly not "cheap."  The author sort-of caught on with a few national parks, but she didn't expound upon it, and the rat...more

I have moss on a heavily shaded slope (which would otherwise be difficult to maintain and therefore an eyesore).  It lends a gorgeous emerald color, interspered between garden and woods.  I also plan to grow moss between stones in a shaded walking path.  It's easy to start, grow, use as "filler," and maintain in approp...more

Must concur with the previous posters: Bishop's Weed is considered highly aggressive and invasive.  It can even invade your well-established lawn.  There are many other beauties to choose from, so think twice before planting BW.

Back in the day, I watched The Today Show because of Jane Pauley.  In more recent years, I watched because of Katie Couric and Ann Curry.  Matt Lauer was always like the pool boy, nice looking but with something sneaky underneath.  As time went on, I became bored with him as well as with Katie's perpetual cuteness -- a...more

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013

The RnR HoF would have more credibility with me if Chicago was inducted.  Wiki:  Billboard: "Chicago was the leading US singles charting group during the 1970s. They have sold over 38 million units in the US, with 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums... five number-one albums and 21 top-ten singles."  No d...more

I'd add on Cincinnati and take off St. Louis.  Yes, Ohio IS in the midwest - "the heart of it all."    To the poster who asked about Bloomington, Indiana...  Absolutely, it's on my list of Best Kept Secrets in the midwest.  Bet those who negged you haven't been there.  It also looked like the author was ignoring t...more

"cut takeout from $200 a month to $100 a month"???  $200 each month on fast food???    To cut food expenses, first cut your food budget on paper.  Then get creative.  This is harder for some folks than others (those who like to cook, those with transportation options, and those with more regular work schedules wil...more

Another Captain Obvious article from msn.  How about informing readers how to SAVE on their cell bills (along with cable, internet, and landline bills)?  Or how to sort through the companies, compare costs, find deals, apply discounts? Better yet, what about featuring less-costly alternatives? Yes, I have a c...more
