There's a bigger problem than simply companies failing to invest while sitting on piles of cash and refusing to hire employees.  Good luck getting mega-corporations to do that...they're not going to do anything that doesn't give them a diredt benefit, and they're not interested in doing more investing and hiring only f...more

OK, we can continue to sit and scold each other, or we can look objectively at the situation.  Estimated up to 25% of our population is unemployed or underemployed.  (The country isn't taking any action to really find out the actual count, either.)  Wage discrepancy between highest- and lowest-paid is worse than all of...more

Student loan delinquencies hit new high

Why don't we ever address the elephant in the room. Colleges are out of control. The system has practiced virtual collusion for years that has driven costs high enough to cripple the people that graduate financially. Our state has a web site that allows looking at wages of the faculty. The wages are way beyond any leve...more

I agree that spending has the potential of fixing the economy more so then tax increases. The where to cut is the problem. To the rich and lucky, the less fortunate and less lucky are the place to cut. I hope another 15% tax option on the chopping block is the one Mitt Romney uses to help his situation and have it removed if we loose the dividend option. Stocks that offer dividends have been (with research) a more stable steady investment for the less faint at heart. If we lose our dividend tax rate Mitt should share...more

I'm sure there is a Native American that would be happy to take your house, are you prepared to give it?. That is only f...more

10 Used Cars to Avoid

Seems like the writer was trying to grandstand a little and list cars that would draw attention to be on a don't buy list. The VW Beetle using old models to criticize by implying the new ones might have problems is a cheap shot. Edmunds lists the new Beetle as reliable. The one con they list is the fact it is a retro-c...more

10 things that used to be free

The article didn't mention TV is still free. I get a couple of independents, the 3 major networks and 3 PBS channels. I get what I need from this. If I want a movie, I just buy or download it. Cable is stupid at $50 > +$100 per month. I don't understand why it isn't boycotted, just my opinion.

I don't understand why we are putting up with this.  Globalization doesn't work!  It exploits underpaid labor and takes a means of income away from the rest of us, while the few who are at the top of this massive scheme rake it in.  There was a reason why work was set to just 8 hours a day and retirement at 65.  With a...more
