Hire two different home inspectors.  Our first house had an inspector that reported minor storm damage to the roof, which had been fixed.  He said the roof was no longer leaking.  Our first rainstorm - we may as well have been outside.  Water poured in through the roof!  The inspection wasn't worth the paper it was...more
