My daughter is almost 4 years old, I signed her up for a college savings plan at Charter One Bank. It's $25 per month, minimum for her age, can skip 2 months in payments a yr. if need be, but I have money transferred from my checking act monthly, you can pick the day it goes out. When she turns 18 yrs old, they will gi...more
People at our fund office say the actuaries are for every 2 yrs. you retire early, you will add 5 yrs. to your life span. Like I stated my grandfather retired at 54 yrs. old, I'm right with him, "lol" Like anything you need to keep active, REMEMBER it's the stress you're getting rid of!
I'm retiring at 55 in 10 months. I've only worked 10 months since Jan. 2009. Been getting unemployment benefits while off as well. If they're aren't they can do what Walmart does it has most their employees on state health care, paying them less than 30 hrs a week. People will just have to go get 2 jobs to get over 40 hrs. It suxs but it has its good values a...more
I also started my work carreer in 1978, making maybe $18,000 a year, before I got laid off in 2009 at the age of 50, I was making $135,000. I bought things were I wanted to, yet invested & saved for my retirement. I will retire the end of this year with a monthly pension of about $3,500, a early out. But was a good car...more
