I believe seatbelts saved my life, so I feel naked if I do not buckle up promptly before getting under way. I had an accident caused by another driver who lost control of his SUV in my path. I was moving 55 mph when we hit the out of control spinning vehicle in my path. The oncoming vehicle was driven ahead of me af...more
Government entities are cash short and this is an easy way to generate revenue. Where I live, the local police park their unmarked pursuit vehicles next to saloons waiting for drunks to drive away from the places in their cars after imbibing. Each Tuesday a long list of DUI arrests is posted in the local paper showin...more
So you think Obama is a liar. He tells the truth here right after his Senate win. Google "Not Natural Born -- TRUTH MATTERS" for his speech giving details.
It is clearly time to rid ourselves of the current 73,000 page income tax code. It is unfair, is full of loopholes added to favor vote-buying special interests and is used by the politically elite know-it-alls to manipulate our lives. It requires nearly countless hours for those who file to figure out how much they o...more
The mortgage interest deduction is not important to our family since our mortgage is paid off. Our property taxes and state income taxes are mighty low and so are our out-of-pocket medical costs. We do not itemize and haven't done so since about five years after moving into GA from tax hell WI.

These Audis simply cost a lot of money to buy and to maintain as they are not that reliable. My feeling is that I can ...more
@Bry124,
I am doing the same with our old 1994 Mitsubishi Galant, keeping it on the road as I resist paying big bucks for a new car. This old ride has been remarkably trouble-free, requiring only about $1400 in non-routine repairs in 17 years. On the truck issue, I'm running a 1995 GMC Sierra that I keep patchi...more
It's six months down the road and inventories are not up there to make great deals likely on some cars like Hondas, Kias, Subarus and Hyundais. I'm waiting a few more months before shopping seriously. In the meantime, our old 1994 Mitsubishi keeps running like a clock, buth not looking all that great, though.
I drove Chrysler 300M's, Chrysler Concords and a Dodge intrepids for a period of about 15 years and learned my lesson. I had multiple troubles with transmissions, air conditioners, window regulators, fuel systems (burned up one of the Concords) and a major engine failure due to sludging (Intrepid). They were junk, al...more
